Panel & Service Upgrades

As electrical demands keep growing, many homes and businesses need a service upgrade to safely support modern equipment, EV chargers, generators, and additions. We run the load calculations in-house and work directly with utilities and local jurisdictions, so a project is planned properly from the beginning.

EV Charger Installation

Whether it is your first home charging station or charging infrastructure for a commercial facility, the electrical system has to be designed to support it. We evaluate the capacity you already have, run load calculations where they are needed, and install dedicated circuits to manufacturer requirements and current code.

Knob & Tube Rewiring

Original knob-and-tube was never designed for a modern household, and many insurers are now reluctant to cover a home that still has it active. We have spent years in older Portland homes, so the old wiring is replaced or decommissioned with as little disruption to finished spaces as possible.

Commercial Lighting Upgrade

Lighting design and control tailored to each project, worked out with owners, builders, architects, and interior designers — from single-room control to whole-building automation. As an Energy Trust of Oregon trade ally we apply for the rebates on qualifying upgrades on your behalf, so the incentive is priced in before the project starts.

questions, answered

The things people ask before they book. If yours isn't here, get in touch — we'd rather talk it through than have you guess.

  • What is knob-and-tube wiring?

Knob and tube wiring was installed between the 1880s and the 1940s — the first generation of home electrification. The system lacks proper grounding, and its insulation is brittle and prone to cracking and breaking down, which causes hazards and electrical issues. We recommend replacing it.

  • Should my knob-and-tube wiring be replaced?

Yes. For most homes that still have it, that is 120-plus years of use. The insulation becomes brittle and breaks down, causing electrical fires and hazardous conditions in your home. Multi Phase Electric has 20-plus years in the remodeling industry and hundreds of homes improved. We can replace your old wiring in under a week in most cases, depending on the size of your house.

  • How long does a panel replacement take?

A panel replacement usually takes 8 to 10 hours, and you should expect to be without power for that duration. We tell you the window before we start so you can plan around the fridge and anyone working from home.

  • Can you provide a level 2 EV charger?

Yes. Multi Phase Electric LLC can supply any ChargePoint charger for your EV. If you already have a charger you'd like to use, we can install that for you as well.

  • Whole-home standby generator or portable — which is best for me?

Either way, we can help you make the right decision for your home and your area. Physical space requirements, fuel availability — natural gas versus propane — and cost all drive the decision. We'll do a free assessment of your home or business and provide an estimate.

  • Can the wifi signal in my home be improved?

Yes. Most homes run a single wifi router that can't cover every area. We can supply and install a mesh system, or work with your existing one, to create a wired backhaul — running ethernet through select areas of the house. A wired-backhaul mesh handles gaming, streaming, and casual browsing all at once, as long as your service provider can support it.
